Silk Screen printing in progress

2019

My practice consists of various skills I have acquired through my interest in other artists, designers and crafts-people.

Major influences include William Morris and Anni Albers.

My interest in working with textiles began while studying on my BA Fine Art, and in my second year I went to study textiles at Escola Massana, Barcelona to further my knowledge. This meant I was able to refine skills in hand embroidery, loom weaving, garment construction and knitting.

I use my surroundings as inspiration for much of my work. For example, my recent work has seen the use maps of my home and local area to create patterns. I have also created large woven tapestries based on my regular travels around the Black Country. Occurrences within the travel, such as interactions and diversions have been represented with patterns or colour.
